I'm a cheerleader, believer and I like to help people. So when people ask me for help I want to help - whether its through encouragement, a hug, advice. I love to see self-motivated people overcome, pursue a dream and beat the odds.  I am asked for help on a regular basis with this: "I want to tour. How can I tour? How do you tour? Can I tour with you"? Etc. I find it amazing that people ask ME for advice in this area. I assume it is because we spend a lot to time on the glamorous road.

Sometimes, after offering initial guidance, I never hear back from that person again let alone see them. Let me tell you, that hurts, bro.... I can only surmise my recommendations, or guidance was not to their liking and I have no further use to them. So I thought I'd do my b...

My last blog post had us leaving Lawrence, KS with our monthlong tour being rescued by one super friendly auto mechanic. Big Bill saved the day, got us to our gig on time and and we were able to head to our hotel in Hays, KS that night. Our next mission - Trinidad, Colorado near the border of New Mexico - roughly a 9 hour drive between gigs - just a trip to the laundromat.

Most of that 600 mile drive is a slow elevation climb through prairies with few trees. I know a lot of people don't care for the austere landscape of Kansas but I think it is beautiful in a unique way, especially when the roads grow smaller. The elevation change and the distances you can see make any type of weather event more interesting.

We're Not In Kansas Anymore - Somewhere near Cheyenne Wells,...

September has come and gone! After a month on the road, and in many ways one of the most strenuous tour runs to date, we are back in the Mitten for cider mills, corn mazes, and the colors of fall in the Great Lakes.

For those that follow us we do our best to chronicle our journeys including the highs, the lows and the adventures. #32DaysOnTheRoad is the name of the blog series. We also like to offer insights on our approach to cracking the code for DIY bands to survive and thrive on the road - through our successes and failures. This last run had us driving a 10,500 miles over the course of a month (over 11,000 including our Michigan dates the few days after our return). That is a haul by anyone's standards.

Dylan and I left Michigan early on August 27th and started of...

Getting back in the swing of things - seems like that's what we are always doing, whether is acclimating to sleeping in a different hotel every night or coming home. Supposedly, its good to have a routine. We usually do have one, it just changes with the seasons.....or by the week. After a fantastic weekend of breaking out of a tight schedule, I thought, why not blog about it?

Everybody needs a break

Addressing the need to stay still for a while for our well being and productivity, we've been home in the Motor City since July 6th. Its now July 30th, and an action packed few weeks its been. Studio time, acoustic dates, some weekend long regional travel, and all the fun stuff like paying bills, catching up on household chores and booking shows. But we took Saturday night off this last weekend an...
